A RAINY SUNNY SEASON???

Zurich greeted my parents with cold, rainy, gray skiesIt is tremendously disappointing because this city and entire country is so beautiful you just want people to be able to see it after coming such a long wayEven worse, the rain just kept coming for days, and the clouds were so socked in we could barely see the lake just two blocks away let alone the mountainsBut, my parents were ecstatic to see their grandsonsThey fought through the jet lag like champs and didn't let the rain dampen their spiritsOnce they got adjusted to the time change we decided to don our rain gear and find some sites to explore that included indoor highlightsWe headed to St. Gallen and Einseideln-two villages with beautiful abbeys and cathedrals dating back centuries (designated UNESCO world heritage sites), and were certainly not disappointed!  The highlight for me was touring a library with books from as early as 700 AD. The library was a spectacle of impressive woodworking as much as it was overwhelming with historical writings (unfortunately, no photos were allowed in the library).  We walked the streets of the old towns with our raincoat hoods cinched, shuffling under umbrellas, nibbling on chocolate, determined to make the most of a dam[p] good time.
